Department of Energy & Climate Change
Application:
The Department of Energy & Climate Change selected Solarshield to install solar control window film to the perimeter windows on the south and east elevations, to reduce solar heat gain and help improve energy efficiency. As the building has listed status and is of historical interest the solar control window film had to have low visual impact.
For this project a number of trials were conducted to ensure the building aesthetics were not compromised. Potential energy saving calculations were also provided by Solarshield and approved by DECC. A spectrally selective high visible light transmission film, manufactured by Llumar was internally applied to the permeter windows out of working hours.
The solar control film installed offers total solar energy rejection of 56% whilst hardly changing the light levels or appearance of the building. Solarshield are proud to have been selected for this prestigious window film project and delighted the installation ran very smoothly.
Solarshield specialise in all types of window film installations and can survey glazing of your building to offer advice on a window film installation. Window films can offer energy saving, comfort control, glare reduction, improved aesthetics as well as added safety and security.
